Run the following command (or install/use Unity Tweak Tool > Unity > Launcher > Minimise):
gsettings set org.compiz.unityshell:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/unityshell/ launcher-minimize-window true
Move Unity Launcher to bottom
If you want to move the Unity launcher to the bottom of the screen run the following command in a new Terminal (or install/use Unity Tweak Tool > Unity > Launcher > Position):
gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Launcher launcher-position Bottom
Disable Guest user
System provided configuration files in /usr/share/lightdm/ are not intended to be user editable. Instead users should use: /etc/lightdm/
Newer versions of LightDM (Ubuntu 15.10, or later) use [Seat:*] instead of [SeatDefaults]
Just run this (once) at terminal:
sudo sh -c 'printf "[Seat:*]\nallow-guest=false\n" >/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-no-guest.conf'
To undo (restore Guest option), remove the file created:
sudo rm /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-no-guest.conf
To add the Nvidia Gfx driver PPA, run the following command in a Terminal window:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
To upgrade or install the latest Nvidia drivers use the following command:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nvidia-xxx nvidia-prime
Here, “xxx” is the driver version number.
Available Driver Version List
To see available Nvidia driver version list use the following command:
sudo apt-cache search '^nvidia-[:digit]' --names-only
To Change owner of a partition in Ubuntu user following commend in terminal:
$ sudo chown username:username /media/username/diskname
username = your user name
diskname = the name of the disk you need to change permission. You will find all your disk in “/media/username/” directory.
Note: You must mount the partition first to change the owner.
Note: The above commend tested in Ubuntu 16.04.
